Feng Shui is becoming quite popular among Americans that want to make a change in their lives and surroundings. There are many principles and guidelines to using Feng Shui in homes or businesses and most of them include common sense. Another Feng Shui decorating is really easy when you use some simple ideas. The first determination is to decide on the goal. If a goal is to 'feel' better in your space, look at the things around you. This includes everything from the plants, paintings, rugs, carpeting - everything.

One of the first places to start is the entryway. In Feng Shui, it is believed that energy and opportunity comes to us from the front entrance. If you believe you need help from the Universe for the things you want in your life, check out what is going on at the front door. Entrances that have sharp objects like a spiny cactus or sharp angles 'point their fingers' at all who enter. People may unconsciously feel uncomfortable when they enter your home and they don't know why. If you feel like you are dragging or moving too fast through the house, check out the area rug at the front door. Place an area rug that is round or oval at the front entrance and your space should feel like the energy is moving at a balanced pace. Octagonal area rugs are fantastic because one of the symbols very auspicious in Feng Shui is the octagon. When the energy is balanced and moving with ease, you will feel better and everything else falls into place. Soft rounded angles are better than sharp corners so another Feng Shui tip is to not have too many points around the house.

Make sure there isn't too much plant material or shrubs growing outside so the front door is hidden from the street. You would be hiding yourself form the world and this isn't good if you need help from the Universe. None of your opportunity can get to you if you don't have an open welcoming entrance. Your friends and family will feel the difference when you enter the home so try making a few quick changes and see if you don't feel better inside the space.
