Magic Aladdin Carpet
For their 100-year celebration, Disney’s Magic Kingdom unfurled the Aladdin Carpet. According to Disney, the Aladdin Carpets are a delightful attraction, the likes of which have not been seen since Dumbo spread his ears and flew into the hearts of children everywhere. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin fly around a colossal genie as two fanciful, water-spewing camels spit at riders and viewers alike.
Adjacent to the Magic Kingdom is the Epcot Center, with its Imagineering Lab. Select guests to the lab can experience a self-guided, virtual reality story within Agrabah, the city where Aladdin lived, while riding – what else? – a magic carpet. The Aladdin style virtual reality experience will be one of many settings to be tested as the Imagineering Lab samples likely theme park attractions for the future.
Magic Carpet
A magic carpet is a carpet that would convey persons who are on it immediately to their destinations. The Magic Carpet of Tangu, also called “Prince Housain’s Carpet,” was an outwardly worthless carpet from Tangu in Persia that acted as a magic carpet. This was the carpet featured in Aladdin in The Arabian Nights. Another magic carpet was the one used by King Solomon, allegedly made of green silk, on which his throne was placed when traveling.
On November 25, 1992, Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution released the animated feature Aladdin, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. In the film, Aladdin takes Princess Jasmine on a magic carpet ride, during which he croons to her:
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
